Interior Renderings - Portals?

My first Octane project is underway - I have an interior daylight scene. I plan to use PMC and adjust the camera exposure until the room is properly exposed. Is that what everyone does? Is there a need to use portals? Thanks!

Your correct. Your exposure wants to be set just right, not too much and not any less. In regards to portals, it works best if their is smaller spaces where light is coming though. So basically the bigger the space that lets the light through the less effective the portals become.

Thanks! I plan to run videos of the interior next. Can I go to direct lighting and adjust exposure, so as to speed up my frames? Even with good hardware, it seems to take a while! Thanks again

Adjusting exposure for direct lighting is fine and for speed it should run super fast with your available hardware spec. If you aiming for high quality, I'd recommend testing the diffuse mode which is a lot faster than pathtracing and PMC, or alternately go for AO mode.

Cheers, Matt

Thanks, Matt. I have not tried AO yet. I appreciate the help!
