Diesel at Dawn

Hi,
It's hard to not love diesel locomotives. While the steam ones are pretty in their own right and i don't want to offend the electrics; there's just no match for the grace, presence and the sheer personality of the diesel that speaks rather tacitly of its dogged intent. One look at their no-nonsense appearance and you know they just mean one word - business. Happy to work, whenever you put them to. I love diesel locos. I Look up to them.
The image is a tribute to the machines that have always fascinated me. Modeled in Blender. Rendered with Octane.
Feel free to comment/criticize.
Thanks

I didn't time it but i guess i left it for about 15 minutes and it got to around a couple of thousand samples in that time on my single GTX 560 - it looked reasonably clean so i took it off.
Thanks for liking the work.

Nice scene. The environment is excellent too, and the front light is very realistic. Well done.

mmm I suppose my only critique is that the train doesn't feel like it's made out of metal? If you know what I mean, it feels very playdo kinda. But otherwise I really like the lighting and atmosphere a lot. Maybe the grass could be a little bit more realistic by adding variation to it. They're all very straight and in uniform clumps. Is the background and Hdri image or modelled?
btw mind sharing how you textured the train? I like it a lot.

The loco consists of different objects - base, wheels, panels, additional details etc. Each was UV mapped with textures hand painted in Photoshop.
In defense of the material for the loco, it does indeed have a glossy material but the largely diffused pre-dawn ambient lighting means that it doesn't have adequate sheen.
The grass is result of two factors - one, i was lazy to do varied vegetation, and two, i thought that i should keep the foreground clutter-free so it goes well with the serenity of dawn and relegated most of the detail/clutter to the background.
Everything in the scene in modeled, including the background.
Here are a couple of clay renders from the scene:
Thanks for appreciating the work.
