WSAD style navigation

Seriously now, most of the people that played a first person shooter game out there are used to that kind of navigation.. And it seems kind of, the easiest way to move around games, well it's not that hard to get used to it, (Archicad has a 3d wsad type movement), well it's just annoying when the orbiting around scene and it's all over the place for some reason..
And it could really be useful when demonstrating, with directlighting turned on it's almost realtime so gaming style navigation just makes more sense. Even 3dconnexion devices can become tedious to use, mine is just sitting here with no drivers installed cause I like keyboard/mouse navigation more..
So I know there have been request for wsad+mouse type navigation questions, but will you consider it for real?
(just add 50 more GPU cards and some scripting tools and you're off to developing a future gaming platform)

Hey,

It's on our short-term list, probably for the 2.3 final release.
We already have the icon for it.

Currently we're coding around the clock to get the intermediate out on friday,
and we'll be working hard to the 2.3 final out.

If you see 2.3 intermediate on friday, you'll see octane looks competely different now.
it's not a simple addition of features onto 2.2.
A preferences panel with 5 large pages for instance ;)

nice news Radiance :), just don't overwork yourself..
I started noticing that I do better renders in cinema4d just because nhaow I know how realistic something can be visualized even without using any fancy lighting other than just the hdri, so now I'm learning how all of the stuff works, and I don't really need to use absolutely all settings and all fancy effects to achieve a good effect :) . That in itself is worth the money..
It's a great move for you to release a premature version so we can all participate in development.
Learning about new stuff in creative ways is always worth the money, not all people appreciate that fact, I guess now everyone wants more from your software since it seems you can do so much better so we get anxious and start trashing around with stuff not working well and all. Probably all of that is due to the fact people always want more and they want it right now..
Like money and fame.. :)
it's great when you can enjoy the "work", I guess it's called work when you have to do it in order to fulfill a deadline, but most of the people here seem rather enthusiastic, and the renders or artwork really is inspiring and diverse, makes you want to achieve a similar effect with your work, that's all great. I really hope that people visiting this forum enjoy their work and make a good living since I wish to embark this journey more professionally i.e. making a living out of it..

So how many people here earn their bread through all of this 3d nonsense, is it your "bread & butter" what are the standard payments for a decent piece of (art)work. Do you enjoy the work, would you rather be doing something else but you're stuck?
Do you prefer freelancing or working in a big environment (possibility to learn more?)
Is it all worth it people.
