Afternoon All,

Im am in the process of purchasing a full licensed copy of the brilliant Octane Render but the question I want to ask is about my machine.

I am wanting to purchase/build a new machine for entirely Octane render. I currently have a very powerful machine with i7 3930 processer and sabortooth motherboard and 32gb ram and all that junk :) but now I need machine that will work with octane entirely.
My budget is around £1000.00, so if you could suggest the best graphics cards and how many ect that would be great... lastly I do have a i7 2600k processer spare so the processor is sorted (i think)

Look forward to comments,

Thanks Again
David

If you downgrade CPU i7-3930K to 2600K then you buy 2 x GeForce GTX 690 4GB SLi (Quad-GPU) because Octane doesn't need nor use powerful CPU but yes native GPU only. :)

if you are saying you already have that machine, how many open PCIe slots do you have?

If possible, you can use that money on just getting a video card (probably Titan) and putting it in your existing computer.

For that budget, you wont be able to get much for an Octane machine as the video cards required would be about your full budget.

Having a fast processor doesn't speed up render speeds, but it does help with import/export times.

Ok but the multi-core/-thread CPU (2 or more) can't work that.

They implemented multi-threaded voxelization in the recent release candidate, I don't think it's in the demo yet.
so, when you get the full version, it will :)

I have demo 1.10. Will next version enable FULLY multi-thread/-core!?
