not sure if this is the correct thread - but I have some issues with the integrated plugin.

just bought it this morning and currently playing around with it.

1. I can change the resolution settings, but it never changes the preview size
2. I can change the number of frames to be rendered but it never just renders 1 frame, always 100 frames as the default setting.
3. There is no help file to be found anywhere - if someone could point me to some manual for the cinema integrated plugin?

4. it renders fast as expected and looks really interesting to test it out...

greetings from Overijse,
Stefan

hi macray,
the live view is supposed to be only for setting the scene and so on, for final renders and animation is best to use the picture viewer or render queue just like in c4d normal workflow.
in the render setting remember to chose octane as render engine and that's all :)
rendering in the picture viewer it's a great advantage, you don't risk to move the camera or other settings, you can compare different results and you have the histogram, the a-b compere is my prefered one ;)
the preview section is for fast animation preview only ;)
ciao beppe

You´re my hero Ahmet, really good job! I´ve just bought it this morning.
Some of my scenes seems to be unable to work with it, but anyway..for the beta 0.30..just perfect!

Keep going!

Hi Aoktar, may I can the discussion here ? ;)
can load any texture if in absolute path, or in project path/ tex path.

panoramic camera not tested so much, this is last minute addition. sorry for that.

Only a sky can be active, if change order you'll see

if you post in Cinema4D subforum, i can more easily help you
I think I found about the material, it's because it was in a folder named with a special character.
All texture path who contain an non ASCII character is not loaded, it become blue or purple in the Live Viewer.

An other little thing : all the views (C4D one and Octane one) become very slow when we enable the Importance Sampling of the OctaneSky, like 1 or 2 fps.

yes it's suitable :) welcome. I'm not sure about texture paths, actually plugin only send names to Octane for rendering. May be octane sdk problem.
Importance Sampling slowdown is also because of Octane computation. I'm advicing to check off while tweaking. When you adjust position you can check again

Also i like to say, in a few day i'll publish fixes which detected by me or you.

I can load a texture with a special character in the Octane Standalone.
Maybe if you try to decode the path in Unicode ?

It's very pleasant to see you as motivated, keep up the great work !

Aoktar,

I hope this is the right thread on which to list bugs etc and post observations on the plugin for you.

Octane Daylight / Sun Object

I have found a bug where the Sun object if created by the Octane Live Viewer is not responding/updating changes but it's fine if created in C4D and an Octane tag added:

1. New basic scene with Cube and Plane
2. From The Octane Plugin Live Viewer click 'Create Objects' then 'Daylight' to produce an OctaneDaylight object with tag and a Sun tag.
3. In Live viewer click send to render
4. In C4D sun expression tag, change month, year, day, time etc. and nothing updates the position of the sun at all (in C4D or Octane Live Viewer).
n.b. the Octane Tag (Turbidity, Power, NorthOffset etc) all work fine

*Delete the Octane Daylight object*

1. Create a C4D Sun object
2. Add an Octane Daylight Tag

Now all changes to C4D Sun time, year, Long. Lat. etc works as intended :)

Materials

I've realised I now have to re-create all my materials as I can't import the .ocm macros I'd saved when working with the standalone. Not sure if this will change once you link to the LiveDB as I think they are all .ocm format? In the meantime I am using the materials in the example scenes to take some inspiration from.. :)

Really enjoying the plugin so far, thatnks for the hard work. Looking forward to seeing this develop over time.
