Forest Pack Pro - Convert to Octane Materials

Hello all - I am a new licensed user. I am at a standstill, though: Does someone know a good method for changing the Forest Pack Pro materials to Octane materials? My grass renders pure white, and I am unable to get it to recognize the octane materials.
Thanks!
Brian

Hello! I finally got a material to work for the trees, but I cannot get Forest Pack Pros grass to work. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Brian

If you run 4.01 then you model is an Xref object which is not supported. You need to unhide it and turn to editable poly. Then get the material from the mesh.
In 4.02 (released two days ago) the model is merged to the scene. Maybe also unhide it and use the material creation mehtos I posted in your other request thread. :)

Please, be sure also to assign the Octane material directly to the Custom Object. In case of objects imported from the library (as presets), they are stored in the "forest_templates" layer.

Currently, Octane doesn't use the materials assigned in Geometry List->Material, but only the material assigned to the object. This problem is already reported to Otoy.

Thank you both very much for your help! I realize that Octane is quickly maturing, and it is a great product. I hope the developers can address this to save some poor end user from repeating what I just went through!
Thanks again!

Carlos - will this be the best workflow until Otoy makes the correction on their end?

Well, the best and the unique workflow, i think. Since Octane is taking the materials from the Custom Objects, it is necessary to apply the materials directly on them.

Anyway remember that you can create your own libraries in Forest. So, to save time you would create some presets with Octane materials already applied.

Great! I saw a tutorial for that on your site, correct?

I am glad to report that when I thawed the Forest layer, then updated the materials, everything is working... Can't wait until it gets fixed by Otoy, though! ;)

The procedure is described here: http://www.itoosoft.com/forestpack/refe ... editor.php

In the next days we will update this section to include presets, but basically it is the same: to create a preset, save a full Forest object in the library instead a mesh.

PD: we are off-topic here, if you need more details we should continue in the iToo forum.
