Hello Everybody!
I read a while in the whole Forum, but i am confused!
Is Motion Blur working in 3DS Plugin, and if yes - how can i do it? I can not find it!
And if not - how is a animation like this :
http://vimeo.com/groups/octanerender/videos/49507719 or the transformer animation possible?
Could please anibody explain it to me? Thank you!
Have a nice Day...
Chris!

Hey,
It's done with standard camera "multi pass motion blur" feature.
It's Max feature and not Octane thing. Take it as a "workaround" for missing motion blur support in Octane.

Basically you have to render your frame 12 times with this sub frame trick and it's going to be very slow

Slow? Well..not necessaryly.
Since the final image equals all the motion blur passes combined you can use much less samples per motion blur pass.
If you want your final image to have 1000 samples you need to render each motion blur pass only about 84 samples (when using 12 mblur passes it's 1000/12).
Only thing that takes time is the scene transfer to gpu between different passes. Still it's way faster than motion blur in Mental ray.

I did some testing yesterday evening. I rendered with SUV“s technique and did the rest of my 25 passes (Full HD i allways take between 20 and 30 passes) with lower sample rate. Worked Pretty well and the results were quite nicely! I also tryed another technique. I took the standart 30fps szene without motionblur and rendered in in After Effects wit CC Force Motion Blur filter. The rendering in AE took about 15 Minutes and the rendering in Octane and Max took about 42 Minutes in a direct comparison!
Ok to be clear the result out of Octane is a little bit nicer but only very little, compared to the After Effects techniqe, so if you dont want a 100% perfect result After Effects is a good choice.
How do you guys handle sutch situations?
Regards Chris!

suvakas, It would be best to not do that cheat because the workflow is just too slow.
Imagine doing DOF using multipass rendering
Arion Render has motion blur and it's very nice and very fast just like dof.

We all are in the same line. Integrated motion blur would be the best solution. I prefer after effects which is for now the best solution. (for me)
I like arion too, but it has way too many bugs and a very bad customer support!
On my wish List would be Rhino Plugin, Motion Blur, better UV Mapping tools, a seperate camera in 3ds max without target and octane would be my perfect render engine!
