6000x6000px render test with new 2.3 res limit (8192x8192)

Hi guys,
Here's the result of several changes we made to the octane core that allow you to render in resolutions higher than 4096x4096 in the upcoming beta 2.3.
This image rendered at 6000x6000 pixels. As you see you need a lot of GPU memory, so i think people who want to render poster size images (our current hard limit is now 8192x8192) could definately use the new GTX260 cards with 2GB RAM for a decent scene at 8000x8000.

That's great radiance!
Would it be possible to have some form of tiling -through a crop + lens shift function - (even if we have to stitch manually) for those of us still limited to >2GB cards?
Thanks!

not for 2.3, eg not in the direct future i'm afraid.

Ok thanks.
Pity though because the GTX470 and GTX480 cards have been the recommended cards for quite a while for use with Octane! :/ So hopefully it's something you'll reconsider after 2.3.
Thanks anyway!

Things are definitely unfolding great for octane render:) New affordable 2gb cards and upcoming features in new octane builds are gonna skyrocket rendering experience once more. Great work guys!
Cheers,

great news, I don't plan to buy new cards in the near future, but just the same in my line of work I do a lot of shots in 1:8 proportions (front elevations, cross sections and such ) and even wider, with the current cap even thou it had less Mpx I couldn't go higher than 4096 in one direction, so that left the other quite low for my purpouses, with that doubled you just made my day.
Thanks, as always, you rock!

This is something I've seen numerous times now, and the example image has the problem as well: what's up with those black edges?
I've only circled a few areas, but they're all over the place (all around the red pawn, all around the knight on the top right). It's as if every object had a black outline.

mmh im thinking about who need to render at such resolutions...in archiviz render we never go over 3/4k px
i think the only gpu that will handle high poly models and heavy textures it are tesla 4gb or 6gb...

Several types of jobs such as artworks in product visualization that could be seen from close eg. Posters, bus shelters etc.
