Video card recommendation for Octane Render GTX460 or GTX470

I am looking to advice on a video card upgrade. Would I benefit more with a NVIDIA 1gb GTX460 or unlockable 1.2gb GTX465 (which is actually a GTX470)? It looks like the 460 has greater core frequency and shaders but the 470 has greater processor cores at stock speeds. At stock state which would be better? What if both were overclocked? It looks like the 460 overclocks really easy too with core clock at 839mhz:
http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-460-review/26. Also been reading that its very feasible to overclocked to 900mhz as some GTX460 is being released stock at an OC'd 800mhz core such as:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-Product. The gtx470 however has 448 stream processors vs 336, gtx460 though has more shaders. The difference between a GTX460 and GTX470(unlockable gtx465) is around $50. I'm confused. Looking forward to some feedback/advice.
Here's some stats:

Its too early to answer. We are waiting for a community guinea-pig to buy one and tell us how it performs
I imagine a 470 is still faster having more cores but a 460 may better suit your budget and be quite acceptable even its a bit slower.
In keeping with other users experience of intense gpu use for Octane overclocking is probably a bad idea.
It probably wont be stable for hours and not so good for longevity.
If it is factory overclocked a little and proven to be well cooled its probably ok but I would shy away from your own o/c.
I see from the recent reviews that some cards run a fair bit hotter and louder than others.
You will need to do some research to pick the best one from all the offerings.
Probably you should just hang off buying for a while until the real world performance with Octane is known.
Then again Octane may not be your only reason to be looking to buy.
The evaluation from testers of the 460 seems to be very favourable.

read this review . . .
two reference clocked GeForce GTX 460 setup in SLI costing 400 USD will quite easily beat a more expensive GeForce GTX 480 in performance --
cool enough
p.s.
this card dont have problem with temperature and noise !
super silent and cool as a winter wind

They certainly seem a good deal better than 470/480 in that respect.
I'd be reluctant to o/c to 900mhz to run Octane though.
I guess we wait and see how bullet proof they are maxed out

Sparkle have apparently released a 2gb version but I cant find any price for it atm. Possibly US$299?? Its natively clocked a little slower at 675mhz though.
They dont have any manual or details of it on their site yet either.
Could be a happy compromise of a lot of things for Octanerians.

Yeah there is definitively a lot of hype around the gtx460. I am digging the bang for buck performance and low power consumption and temperatures. What's been the verdict with overclocking and octane render. When you mentioned stability concerns, were there reports of crashes or overheating? Sorry I haven't been here long enough to hear what's going on and keyword search "overclock" in the forums didn't get me much hits.

I think we should definately await the first benchmark reports and also ask those users about heat/power/noise.

GTX 470 has 1280 MB vs 1024 for the GTX 460. It's faster than a GTX 460 but more importantly, it handles bigger scenes. If you can afford it, buy it.
