Question before purchase.

Hi all,

Next week I would like to purchase the Octane bundle (Max bundle).

My concern is as follows.
Currently I have a Radeon GPU which I know is not supported, so I have to purchase a nVidia GPU which is fine and dandy but due to the purchase of the software and a new GPU my budget has shrunk.

I can afford roughly $400 on a GPU and was looking at a GTX 660ti.

My question is. Will this GPU be enough (in the meantime) for Octane, I want to use it mainly for animations?
Also, is the GPU supported?

Thanks, look forward to your replies.

If you can get a GTX 580, go for that, should be about the same price but will get you better results

Hi thank you for the reply.
Is there any particular reason why the 580 will be better.

Reason is that I doubt I can get it as it is a minimum of $150 more expensive than the 660ti over here in my country.

Will I have the performance difference between the two as a big problem, or- will the difference in performance mall enough not to worry so much?
Again, this is mainly for animation purposes.

Thanks again.

Here is a spreadsheet for speeds of various cards by users.
The 6.xx series performs worse in Octane than the 5.xx series.

https://spreadsheets0.google.com/spread ... utput=html

Here we see that the 660ti got 2.23.
a GTX 470 got a score of ~2.4. You could find the 470 for ~$200.
The GTX 580 gets ~ 3.5

The 660ti doesn't seem like a great card for speed/cost ratio in Octane.
