ANY help driver issue...

I installed tow 680 GTXs device manager said the drivers were up to date... but every time octane 1.02 booted it would just be an all black screen and unresponsive.
I did a windows update which installed newer nvidia drivers still same thing
I went to invidia site and installed the latest 680 GTX drivers reboot and now I can not even get to a bio screen to tell it to boot from a installation disk.
The machine boots up and clicks and whirrs like it is going through normal boot up... but I can't get ANYTHING on my screen.
It is just black and says their is nothing connected to it. It is like it does not even know ANY cards even the 580s that were working fine and I used to run my monitors off are connected.
I would boot from the instalation disk if I could just get the screen to show ANYTHING in order to get to the bios to tell it to load CD first...
ANY ideas welcome....... black screens just depress me

Hi p3taoctane,
Do you have an onboard video card as well?
Have you made sure to boot with the display connected to each different display output?
ie: start at top of motherboard, with display connected to 1st output, boot. Turn off, move monitor onto 2nd output, boot etc.
Once/if you get something displayed, it might be a good idea to go straight into the BIOS and check for an "init display" or similar option where you can tell the motherboard what display to use on boot.
Cheers
Chris.

Thanks Fooze
I ended up doing what you suggested... took everything out and put one 680 in slot one.
Boot up and no problem.
Then the next 680. No problem
Then a 690... again no prob.
I add a 580 and I do not get a boot or a display or anything. I can't even get to the BIOS
So I like your idea for setting the display in the BIOS I will try that next.
Thanks

Ok, let me know how it goes...
We haven't had any problems mixing and matching here, with a variety of motherboards.
Usually if you have the monitor plugged into the top card (PCIe slot 1) and it works fine, then it doesn't matter what else you put in after that, it will at least still show you a post. I take it you have tried just one 680 and one 580?
Thanks
Chris.

Hi Peter,
What motherboard do you have? Check the manual if you still have it, or try to find a copy online.
Most motherboards with multiple PCIe x16 slots have a setting for this but i have seen at least one that didn't.
Thanks
Chris.

Thanks for the follow up... great service as always from Octane.
It is a Super Micro...
Here is the weird part. I had the 680s and 580s both running at the same time and booting fine so I know the motherboard can handle it. ( I was getting freezes in Octane so I updated the drivers... thats when this weird no display on boot-up only when mixed cards are present started)
Right now I just have the 2 680s and 1 690 and all is good... is there a way to 'safely cleanse' any other drivers besides these to see if there is a conflict there?
Peter

Thanks Peter,
I don't know about the other drivers but i do know that in the nvidia driver install you can choose a "clean installation" option that has helped me in the past (choose Custom/advanced install and hit next, then there should be a tick box at the bottom of the software listing).
