Hello everyone,

I haven't used Octane Render demo in quite some time.
I mainly use Artlantis to create walk-through architectural animations. I was wondering if Octane Render 1.0 now has a built feature to do walk-throughs?

It doesn't in the stand alone.
I use blender and the exporter will export each frame of the animation. The problem with this is it has to import the geometry and voxelize each frame, which can sometimes be longer than the render of each frame itself. So it takes a good deal longer, but it is possible. If you are using any of the integrated plugins, it will render your animation through your native 3D program and you shouldn't have a problem.

kavorka, thanks for your reply.

I was hoping that Octane would have a built in animation tool. Sadly I don't know blender. All of the modeling
that I do is all in ArchiCAD and then export to Artlantis to create animations. I was hoping to upgrade to a different
rendering program because Artlantis takes too long to render animations in hd 720p

I just took a stab at rendering from C4D a 151 frame animation. It renders a still in the viewer just fine but fails to render frames. Is this because it's the demo version?

It says the demo version can not render output and save projects. I tried to render with demo and it wouldnt let me.

Question:

For C4D, would Octane handle complex mograph/thinking particle stuff? Maybe even render smoke lets say from turbulence4D? If any has tried, I like to see.
Really curious because I want to purchase a seat.

The new (still in development) ArchiCAD plugin will render walkthru's (flythru's) directly to Octane. http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=26793.

Thanks. I did not know an ArchiCAD plug-in was being developed. Now I am wondering if an Artlantis plug-in is being developed. Simply curious because I have already invested a lot of money in objects (plants, cars etc) on artlantis which I would like to continue using in Octane Render.

Only Otoy could tell you if an Artlantis plugin is being developed, however I looked into the viability of it some time ago, and there is not an API available for Artlantis, so I would think development of such a plugin would not currently be possible.

There will be a provision to load additional geometry into the Octane scene via the ArchiCAD plugin - but the format will most likely be .obj, so you would probably need to export from Artlantis as obj and import into the plugin.
