Hello,

I would like update my computer with a geforce GTX 660 ti 3 go. Is it possible with the 1.0 version ? It's so amazing to have 1300 cores :)

Thanks :)

Yes you can use 6xx cards.
Don't be fooled by the number of cores though because Kepler architecture is different.
See the benchmark results to compare generations.
The 660 will be a bit slower than a 560 I think.
The good news is that 6xx allow the use of more textures for Octane than previously.

Good card, 144 textures limit, 3 gb! almost same speed vs 560 ti.

The GTX 560 have juste 330 cores ? Same speed ?

It's a different arhitecture. When comparing cores you must divide the kepler ones by 3. A GTX 680 has 3x more cores, but its actually slower in practice than 580

The reason why kepler GPU cards don't benefit much from speed is due to the no of SMX processors which contain a certain amount of cuda cores each. Fermi cards had numbers around 14 SMX processors on single gpu, which kepler had around 8 or so. In short this is bad for octane as it depends on the no of SMX/multiprocessors besides just the no of cores. These cards bring huge speedups for games, but not much for octane. The bigger benefit you will probably get from these cards will be memory.

I just got a GTX660Tisc 3G and in my opinion it's not much faster than my GTX480. The extra ram does help so at least i can load larger scenes. For a few bucks more the GTX580 GTX590 would have provided a bit more speed.

Since its a 2nd card the system does perform very well so still loving it.
