Hi all,

In my work has been to use the octane, but for materials repeat use is very inconvenient, I have an idea, hope it is a good idea.

radiance, which can be achieved?

Sorry, I forgot octane materials can Preview the changes :D ,we can not need Preview material , :)
But for repeat use of materials is necessary.

Hey,

We're working on something like this for 2.3.
Thanks for the mockup but it's already close to what i had in mind, although we have a few different ideas.
You'll find out more about it once we release the first RCs... ;)

the beta 2.3 of octane won't be an evolution, but a real revolution ... lol

hi,
how about implementing a support for 3d-navigational devices like 3Dconnexion… SDK is here:
http://www.3dconnexion.eu/service/softw ... loper.html
and probably more important: other “export / save as” formats, like .tiff for instance
cheers

Hi,

Yeah, we already have a space navigator and are working on compatibility.

While at that, something supposedly simple to change/add which really annoys me is the scroll wheel thing to zoom in and out. I work with a Wacom tablet and the only app which requires me to drop my pen and get the mouse is Octane. Hopefully an alternative could be implemented as well.
Thank you for the great work so far!

can you propose us an example ?
what would be good for you ?

also, the scroll wheel should only be needed to zoom in/out on the rendered image, not the actual camera, and i think you should hardly do that right ? or are you constantly rendering at larger then monitor resolutions?

or do you mean simple the scroll button foor zooming the camera ?

if you can provide a good solution we can implement it.

Thanks for replying, Terrance.
Frankly, I use Octane less often than I would like but that'll change when v2.3 comes out. Regardless, it's not a matter of how big the image is and a 30" monitor helps a lot with that, but sometimes I render the same static scene in several different angles, aperture, focus point, etc, so I'm always panning, rotating and zooming in and out in search of the perfect shot and that's when I have to put the pen down and get the mouse.
As a suggestion, you could *add* something along the lines of mouse button press + mouse movement to control rotation, translation and zooming. For instance:
LMB + movement = translation/panning
MMB + movement = zooming in and out (pick any axis you prefer: positive movement zooms in, negative, zooms out)
RMB + movement = rotation

Hope I was clearer this time around. Thanks,

hmmm,

that changes everything...
maybe i think we should add an option in the prefs panel of 2.3 so people can configure it themselves,
so they can make it mimick whatever environment they usually use.
