New Features Overview request

Hey there,

So Im wanting to create a shader that uses one of 5 different leaf textures randomly on a tree, I started searching all over the forum and found stuff on virtual materials, random frame textures, but nothing really conclusive or easy to understand without loads of searching all over. Im not sure who has the expertice to do this, but a nice list of New features and how to use them would be great (or maybe that exhists in an updated manual?)

things like -

Virtual Materials
Frame extention
instancing (particle or regular)
Movable proxy (when to use and when NOT to use)

Just a few off the top of my head that have been released lately that I would love to have a single resource to learn about them.
