Animations wayyy too slow - updating geometry?

Octane used to be all about speed, but it's getting slower because of features that I for example don't need. Hence the reason I'm still using 2.xx which is the fastest afaik. But that's besides the point.

My main concern is with animation is updating the geometry, it takes 30-60secs per frame!!! That's a huuuge problem especially for test renders where the rendering itself may only take a few seconds. If you have a few hundred frames all of a sudden a 20mins render becomes 5 hours, hardly any of which is rendering time!!!! There's a lot you can do to reduce rendering time, but with updating the geom you're stuck with big waiting times. I noticed that only one core is used while updating the geometry? Is there any hope of reducing the time to load geometry, use multi threading perhaps? Anything? Why is this so slow?????

Try using Octane proxies.
For me it speeds up the scene conversion after frame 1.

..this is a pain in the.. =))) but they say they are workin' on that =)
For now the best & probably the only solution to cut times
is to get high runnin' CPU =) Proxy might help..
(though this adds a bit of time for rendering (10% or so.. =)
