Hi all
I recognize some of the forum names from years ago in other places ;)

I'm a recent Octane adopter and thought I would share one of my first projects with it. I am using the 3ds plugin. Rendered for about 10min at 1920x1080 (x2 passes to clean up some reflection artifacts) on 2 470s.

olia! love 2wheel drive!

Welcome to Octane forums!

the work looks nice =) i've just a bit concerned about the gap between handles and seat - isn't it too far away? =) it might be just my impresion. The color choise and this looks is very unique - love it. though presentation choise is a bit chamelionic (it seems the vehicle tries to blend with environment =) well maybe that was the main idea, wasn't it??.. =) but..I'd love to see it in studio setup, or semewhere else where it could really pop out, standout from & with the help of surounding space (like in futuristic interior or urban environment=) put some mat tweeking for tail-lights too.

overAll, really nice concept!

really cool imge. I would go with a bit dofferent ground texture. for now the color is to similar with the lower bike parts like wheels and it eats up the nice shape of the bike.

Hi noyb!,
you are welcome and your job is really cool!
I'm totally agree with glimpse and, for my opinion , there's too much water and it looks too "consistent" (like oil), i'm sure that you can make the scene perfect! ;)

What about the illumination? HDRI or Sunlight?, which kernel for render?

Cheers, Paolo

Very interesting design. Some underground feeling. Using a specular map on the ground mateial to blend the water and the ground surface could add some realism. There is rarely such a contast between wet and dry materials.

Hi !
If you want to see beautiful rendering of wet asphalt, I suggest this beautiful trailer.

I could be wrong, but I think that is an actual video of real cars on real streets...

Thank you everybody for the great feedback and warm welcome.
I will take the suggestions and see what I can come up with. A studio test is definitely on my list for the weekend.

-----Scene info----------
~1.8mil polys
~0.4GB gpu mem
Direct Light/ Diffuse (PMC looked great, but I'm impatient ;) )
I didn't catch how many samples I reached, but I think it was around 2000
I used sunlight for the base render and HDRI for the cleanup pass (just a few little spots)
Hotpixel removal at .2
-------------------

I'll probably get into doing some more rendering soon - winter is coming and my computer works as a great space heater with both GPUs going full-tilt :)

Here is my first studio test with octane.

~1100 samples in 5 minutes
