Hi there,

First off, congrats on a great piece of software.

If you really want to stick it to the competition, develop a decent skin shader. This would open your market up to character modelers and concept artists.

I am sure this has been requested before, but hopefully if more people do request this, it will rise on the priority list.

Cheers,

Matt

hi,

SSS requires volumetrics which require other foundations that we're building now.
what about using SSS whitout no area lights ?!?

I suspect when Octane has sub surface scattering enabled, a preset skin shader could make it the character render of choice.

But I think it is a year away at best till we see SSS.

That is great news to hear! :)

If you would like to see how Maya's sss shaders are setup check out these video's, it could give you an idea on an sss skin shader presets for us to use in Octane.
