This is my second render in Octane...(so yeah, maybe I should come back when I pick better material than water, right?)

Don't ask how long it took. I was gone all day and just let it cook. Refraction kills my little GTS 250.
I left it at 16000 samples and when I got back home and checked, even after all 16000 samples were done, I still had some fireflies in there that I had to clean up in PS (Blur tool helped). 900x1200, DirectLighting. Geometry created with Modo's Splash kit.

Very nice colors and mood you have there! I like it.
A proof that directlighting can give great results. I haven't play with Modo since 203 but it seems you have nice tools in this very capable app :) . Keep up the good work and come back !

I wonder if Pathtracing isn't best for non-refractive scenes. I tested out Pathtracing with this shot and I saw only a very subtle difference. Unlike non-refractive scenes where the difference is obvious.

yep you're right, maybe because refractive objects do not rely so much on multi bounce to look good, unlike diffuse surfaces.

Wow! I nearly wet myself looking at that render. Great work. Modo is perfect for splashes.
