HDRI and Daylight question

Hi

I've been playing around with this for a while, but a situation I keep running into is that I want to use a HDRI map to light the scene, but I also need to add a sunlight to it to get nice crisp shadows. The problem is when I add octane daylight it overrides the HDRI map and it disappears replaced by a physical sky. Conversely I've tried to add an octane light (small sphere) to approximate the sun instead of the daylight system, but this seems to flicker or randomly turn off when I turn it up to it's highest power (which you need to simulate daylight). Also it can seem very 'local' in it's light distribution.

Any ideas?

Here is a trick that could help you, create a powerfull HDR white map on a poly(in c4d I bake a poly with high luminescence in hdr format) next you place it far away and above your scene and normal must point on the object you want to light.

Here is the result in octane
