Hi guys just realised that octane can't handle a lot of meshes? whenever i have a large file it just keeps crashing. Is there anyway to fix this?

Maybe it's just because the mesh cant fit on your card. Check VRAM usage during load.

If it is coming up with GPU failed at the bottom right of the render window then most likely you have run out of VRAM as matej says.
If octane is crashing with a runtime error during .obj parsing and voxelization and you are using the 32bit version then most likely you are reaching the maximum system memory for a 32bit process.

Cheers
Chris.

Hi guys thanks for the replies, it crashes after i click on render target. Ive got 2 Evga 680 4gb gtx FTW so it cant be a vram issue.

Hi, if the zipped .obj is not too big and you don't mind then can you please send it to [email protected]?
I will give it a try here and it may be of use to the developers if this is a bug.

Otherwise can you give me a rough idea of how many materials you have in the scene so i can make a test scene of my own to check if this is the problem.
I can see by the size of the horizontal scroll bar for the graph editor and the number of materials showing that there are approx 1500 material nodes? Is that about right?

Cheers
Chris.

Thanks for the quick replies! I've just sent you the file, so you can test it out there. I had a similar problem with another of my projects which is a big file as well. I usually work in rhino and then export it into octane. Still hoping for a rhino plugin soon :), that way i don't think it should be a problem when processing big files? correct me if im wrong.
