We'll also show some of the recent innovations in the latest version of Octane such as instancing.

Look at the very top of this web page - next to the Octane Render tab. Brigade is a real time path tracing technology focused on games (whereas Octane is focused on final render quality for artists). As both Brigade and Octane evolve at OTOY, there will be cross pollination these technologies in future versions. Ray Tracey works very closely with both teams.

that's the same thing as asking "What is the Matrix?"
It's an engine developed by OTOY to create photorealistic games. I've done some experiments with it, it has huge potential.

Sorry I don't understand even when I look at the website of BRIGADE.
What IS BRIGADE ?
And piece of software to extend Octane for faster rendering ?
Something like a GPU-renderfarm ?
What hardware is used for the demos on the BRIGADE Website ?
Why is it called "Real-Time" ? On the Demos there is NO real time to see, it's just pretty fast, but simple scene like in the demos always render pretty fast. So what's so special about it ?
I hope someone can clear the dust in my head.
Kind regards
Alain

how about a quick tutorial on how to get it started and play around with a preset scene? The brigade link shows the blog, which I already checked - but couldn't get clear info
just to get a feel for the software - this idea od a realtime gaming engine is great actually - can you pack it into an .exe file in the end, for showcasing some architectural walkthroughs for instance? This would be a great extension to any BIM applications
I "predicted" this kind of gaming engine a year ago - since its a logical step to gaming quality - it just need to get that unbiased render feel, and hi poly at some time, next step would be to integrate it into mobile devices when they start getting enough gpu juice

Brigade has been in development for almost as long as Octane, the first time I used it was in 2010. It's now being developed by OTOY.
It differs from Octane because it uses lots of specific optimizations to render dynamic scenes in real-time.
some videos of what it can do:
low res
We will unveil the plans with Brigade soon.

great stuff, and looking forward to new stuff
hopefully if it gets compatibility to octane it will be a great addition, now I really don't want to switch to any other render engines, but if the two get combined somehow that would be great
so we cannot download any alpha builds or something yet?

There are test builds of Brigade available on the net, but they lack all the latest optimizations shown in the videos above.
