Hi,
This is my second rendering with Octane as a newbee learning and experimenting.
The project is still in progress and this is not the final 3d-model of the sculpture and probably the final render will be with a building background instead of this park.
direct ligthing, 2560x1920, apr 10 min renderingtime.
C&C are welcome ofcourse.

Interesting design, and good render ! About the background : is it composited with a photo, or is it a 3D background as well ?

Hi Roubal... the design is called something with "2 Swans", it is a design made by an architect. The background is a hdri image. There are no 3d elements besides the sculpture and a groundplate.
I made two renderings.. one without a groundplate and one with the groundplate for the shadows and I mixed the images in postproduction.

Fine ! Recently, I was searching a turn around for compositing with shadows, as Octane doesn't have yet a Shadow Catcher material. I have discovered that rendering in AO/Clay mode with a daylight environment allows to catch shadows in the AO/Clay render.
So, you can render normally an object without the background, add it over a photo, and you can multiply the AO/Clay render with the two first layers and you get realistic shadows on your image ! You can remove also any color (sky color)from the AO/Clay render if needed.
