first exterior scene - housing

good evening
would like to share this work with you. a few suggestions and criticism would be nice to make it more realistic

First shot: is illuminated with a hdri (texture environment) but how can I get some nice shadows
Second shot: i change the mesh preview environment to daylight

The second looks much better. Mabe you could put the light source a little bit down to make the shadows more dramatic. You could also add a white plane behind the camera to bounce the light and iluminate the dark areas.

@thiago: thanks for the suggestions with the white plane i will try it. what about the shadows of the white plane? Unfortunately, there is no switch for casting shadows.

the grass topic: i was inspired by Maciek and have even played a bit around. just used a simple plane, copy and rotate them a little scale in the z-direction, and then use a grass image + alpha.

so, that´s the secret :)

the only problem with this technique is the point of view (camera angle) and sometimes the direction of the light source.

good work!

use Forest Pack pro to instance billboards, it rotates them facing the camera.

thanks for the tip with billboards but Forest Pack pro is only available for 3ds max...
I use rhino, will try to write a script for it... :?
