We would like to share this to everyone. Today, OctaneRender is presented by our key executives at the biggest technology conference of the year. An independent article of this event can be found here:

http://allthingsd.com/20120530/otoy-tak ... the-cloud/

You might notice that article writer has posted this article in real time, let's read through it and hope the name "Octane Reader" doesn't stick ;D! To our site followers, customers and the octane community - With OctaneRender making waves in the industry, you can count that OctaneRender is gearing up feature-wise to give you the best advantage. And thank you too, to our scene file contributors who have so generously supported us.

The D conference, is where creators and executive producers gather to make unscripted conversations about all the technology that is making a huge impact in our lives. To know more about the D conference: http://allthingsd.com/conferences/d/d10/about/

EDIT: just added video link below. And for info, name Octane Reader has just been fixed in the original article within the day. that was good one! So here is a full video of the demo at the event:

This sounds exciting and a little confusing... in the context as where Octane Render's vision or priorities are heading.

I do understand Otoy's need to promote their bread-and-butter cloud services. And to tout the coolness of Octane Render as a new acquisition and technology also is completely appropriate. Well done.

Octane Render has been a game changer for me in the rendering world. I am not as worried about how long something takes as much as how well something is done. And though Octane sometimes moves a little slower than desired... the outcome for me has been ENTIRELY worth the wait. Having said that...

We as beta users have been given a "gold-standard" product at a bargin basement price... but the teaser has always been that it will continue to be a "gold-standard" product in the 'rendering' arena. AND I BELIEVE IT WILL... but I hope Otoy's talk about cloud based rendering an iPad functionality is not where Octane Render's resources and vision is currently being poured. Progress of late has been a little slower than normal and my hope is that this is because Otoy has requested a more "finished" product to hit the stores... and not, "hey can you genius's help us make this thing cloud based." I pray they are letting you develop the thing you have been so good at and are not dragging you off course.

Not alarmed... just concerned... and am in no position to expect or request any feedback... but if you want to Octane... it would be welcomed.

Thanks... appreciate an open forum to voice my concern, or perhaps ask for reassurance.

Note: As a long time patient "beta" user I would be also interested in "testing" Octane Render's cloud capabilities. Being able to run Octane Render on an i-pad (and I am assuming here that they were not using a remote login to a machine... cause that is not an iPad app, but just remote login based) would be a great experience if Octane is putting a chunk of its resources in that direction...and not Otoy just doing it's marketing PR thing.

fantastic work :) read the article, will watch the video soon.
I felt a bit :? :| when the otoy said "Our software", even though they acquired it but apart from that, i cant wait for more details and videos.

in the demo we see a simple scene illuminated with direct light.
We can achieve these performances with one single GTX580

I want to see a demo with my 10M polygons scenes, pmc kernel and noiseless 4K frame rendered in 60 seconds.

...the Los Angeles-based software provider demoed its cloud-based 3-D rendering service called Octane Reader, which aims to bring cinema rendering power...

Anyway, I think Octane is a long way from "cinema rendering capability", but I sure look forward to get there....

Do you think the plugin is needed to take advantage of cloud computing?
I'm going to need a lot of resources for calculating my Lamborghini animation.
Thank you.

Maybe ask some forum guys here with their small render farms. I'm sure they can jump in for a small fee. :)
