Hi Octodanny,
Octane only runs on NVidia hardware so that should make the choice simpler!
Please note tho' that the GTX6xx series of cards are not officially supported yet, there is an early test build of octane for them but performance is not optimal.
Cheers

thanks FooZe,
I was afraid of that, since the
AMD card blows the Nvidia away in initial tests!

so I guess then Octane doesnt support opencl? Will it soon?
I guess I would have to get the 675m nividia card then, since I'm not going to
buy a new laptop, with old technology.
Further ................
I was looking ahead to the Daz - octane plugin - when that will be ready, anybody have the scoop?
But.......................
Im comparing Octane-Daz to the REALITY - LUXrender plugin for Daz. Which DOES run on opencl. { ie: AMD card } so it makes my choice harder now!
anybody have an opinion on that?
thanks

You can´t compare octane with luxrender hybrid renderer, you can compare it with Lux smallGPU2 the opencl GPU renderer.
Octane is about 10-20 times faster than luxrender.
The DAZ to Octane plugin is still under development for DAZ 4 but you can use the obj exporter from DAZ.
Here are some tests I do:

Hi mib2berlin,
Yes your render looks good. I've seen other test renders, Im happy with
the Octane quality.
also, your right , I would be comparing it to SLG - small lux gpu. { which
I believe is opencl }
What im trying to guage IS TOTAL WORKFLOW SPEED: ie
THE AMD 7950 card is testing 3X the speed of the top nvidia card -675. { see
test above}
SO take that 3X speed increase{ approximate} with the small lux gpu + Daz.
V.S. Octane + Daz with a slower 675 nvidia card { which isnt even optimized yet}.
What are results now?
