Hi gabrielefx!

great jobs!, as usual yours renders are great!.

Really difficult to choose one as preferred, but the "bedroom" gaves me the sensation to be there in real! (i love the natural illumination and the perfect shading of the materials, expecially of the blanket...little consideration for the bed leg, it's certainly chrome but seems to be glass...isn't it?);
Another one is the "loft", i love the balance from inside and outside illumination.
Really great job for the bathroom too, only thing is for the sink that looks little bit overexposed.

How many time per render?, what kind of camera response did you applied?, are they alla made with PMC?.

Cheers, Paolo :D

thank you but I'm no satisfied about these renders for several reasons:

1) Octane lacks camera clipping. I could design large rooms but in this case I need the real dimensions to produce a 360° panorama. I hate images with wide fovs.

2) Octane lacks fresnel material. I can't mix materials with this rule. Impossible to simulate silk (and many more) materials. Arion, iray and Vray do it.

3) Impossible to shine sun light through specular materials. In reality this happens...I don't understand why the programmers omitted this feature.
In Vray-rt gpu (cuda and opencl) this is already possible. In fact for outdoor renders with many thin transparent walls is better to use other rendering softwares.

4) Impossible to get alpha through specular mats

BTW Octane for Max is now my preferred rendering engine, the most photorealistic on the planet.

These images where rendered at 4000x3000 pixels for 8-10 hour each. The original images have a lot of noise that I reduced with plugins.
I don't use hdrs or tricks I want a real illumination with ies photometrics, sun and skylight.
All semitransparent objects have sss.

I'm sure that every talended people (or artist) are never totally satisfyed with his last job (once i've heard an interview to an artist that says: "my best job is the next" ;) ).
I'm agree with you about some lacks in Octane, i'd love to have fresnel material too and even a real glass behavior with sunlight.

I really like your intention to replicate the real illumination without "faking lights", wonder to do the same thing with my renders but i lack a lot in basics of photography and need to practice a lot with real photo first, so in the meanwhile....pump up with lights!

Hope to see soon some other job from you.

Cheers, Paolo

I'ts me again Gabriele!
...all your work (shading and rendering) is done inside Max?, It's a my opinion or inside Octane the glossiness/specularity...etc of the materials are more adjustable than inside Max?.
I found really difficult to fine-tune the glossiness and the bump of the materials (as I set-up a slightly glossy material it looses almost the 80% of it's reflectivity)....i guess that you work in centimeters, which is the amount of power applied to the bump-map of your walls?...it looks perfect!! :x

Thanks, Paolo
