hi rockwen,

the maya plugin is still under development, so you might want to wait for that. and if you want to use a plugin version of OctaneRender please note that you will also need a licensed standalone version installed in the same machine. when you are ready to buy your license, you go to the buy now pages then, please send an email to support at refractivesoftware.com for more details of this.

also an important thing to know before you purchase, there is a demo version available of the standalone (standard) version. We cannot refund any purchases and we strongly suggest you try the demo first from here: http://www.refractivesoftware.com/downloads.html

I use maya with the typical obj exporter, it works great. I would prefer to work directly in maya of course, but I don't want to wait a year or more!
