kitchen, noise problems

Hello! I am doing this kitchen as the first of (I hope) several architectural renders which I need to provide to a client.
The modeling was done completely in blender, and the render in Octane.
I am having some noise and fireflies problem. Here follow some example, both with DL and Path tracing. Every image is about 20000 samples, but the noise is still there.
I am using the sunlight illuminanation. There is no glass on the window. I tried the portal but it was even slower than normal lighting and the noise was the same... almost every material is from the liveDB... how can i try to improve things?
Also general C&C are welcome!!
Thank you!

Use PMC and See how the noise is looking then.

Thanks for the answer.
Tried pmc... slightly better but still getting the problem... Also with pmc it took 1hr to make 3000 samples on a 580 and still is very noisy!! Is it normal? The scene is not that heavy, about 500k poly.
Actually I would be happy with the DL result (with the fake GI) but I get much more fireflies...
Any ideas?

mmm strange fact with portal. those should help right here.
Are you sure that the object used was correctly oriented, single face and not subdivided?

I think two main sources of noise are the sunlight reflecting between the glossy surfaces, and the window blocking most of the skylight.
The noise from the skylight is mainly visible in the areas not lit by direct sunlight. Putting a portal in the window should improve this. It will render less samples per second, but the image will have less noise after the same amount of samples. Make sure the normals of the portal are pointing inwards.
To decrease the noise from the sunlight you can slightly increase the roughness of the glossy materials. This will help mainly with PMC. What is the current setting?

here is how the portal is set up: single plane positioned just outside the window, normal facing inside.
I also post the pmc kernel settings.
I am noticing another thing... When I use portal I lose the nice light from the window I get using the sun light without portal... I read the manual about portals and looks to me I am doing things right... but probably I am missing something.
Thanks again for the help

Dont know about your monitor settings, but theres definitely quite bad color- and luminance noise in the first photo and the second one is really not looking good.
Are you working with a calibrated monitor would be my first question?
What software are you using for RAW conversion would be the second one?

Hi Sdados, your maxdepth setting is astronomically large.
You have glass in your scene but I would start with 4-6, you see immediately if it is to low.
The glass turns black.
Cheers, mib.

Alpha shadows must be enabled in order to use portals.

oh yes that I think I changed while doing some experiments with settings... That's why maybe I am having problem with portals, I will put back alpha shadows! Thanks!
I will decrease the maxdepth setting!
And finally when I will be satisfied with noise I will fix colors!
Thanks everyone for help, I will post updates as soon as possibile!
