Poly count/ model file size limitations ?

I've got a system running XP pro 64 bit with 4G ram and a GeForce8800GTX 768MB card

Is there a target max polycount or filesize that octane can import with these specs ?

Thanks !

I think you can get up to 4 million polies in your GPU.
However it depends on what kind of model...

Is there any place where it is possible to get such information about cards?

by the way, I got a question about polycount, when I export (max) the internal exporter reports x polycounts, when I import in octane it usually is much less than x, even x/2, why is that?

Hi guys,

kubo -> i can't tell maybe it's a modifier option or some mesh cleanup on export ?

kivig -> not yet. just use that base rule. it's also unpredictable as it depends on the kind of mesh.

Well, maybe it is showing number of quad polygons inside of max...
Cheers,

EDIT

Uh I didn't read it carefully

Sorry:)

well, I really don't mind much the difference of polycounts (I might be reading it wrong in max exporter too) but it's actually like xmas eve, I hit export, it tells me that i got 2M something polys, then I think "wow I've finally gone over the top and my pc's gonna blow" and there it goes, smoothly as ever, octane loads it with about half that polycount and I'm a happy camper again... I guess one of this days I'm gonna blow my 260, but not today... hehehehe
