Thin film rocks!
I plan to fabricate this as sculpture.

nice, you should try modulating the thin film with a texture, it will give an oil on water effect.

Wow, cool render!...
Methinks that'll test yer pipebender out!!
(I do a bit of physical sculpture in brass/bronze/copper, "steampunk" stuff).
