Resin scale-model product renders

Nothing very special for most people I guess but why not show it here anyways. ;)
A client of mine is switching from manual modeling his 1/35 scale models to 3D and then printing them with Rapid Prototyping technology. I do most models with ZBrush, my Freelancer does all the character models (he is awesome).
One good thing is that the digital model can be used as a base for his product renderings too and give a good look in the client webshop. He wanted a greyish resin material look to not disturb his customers. The other one is from an earlier test using a white material. I prefer the white a bit more but the grey fits more. I do 6 renders for each product.

Setup is pretty basic with three light emitters, some cameras for close-ups and so on. Materisl is a mix material. I had a nice SSS material too but we skipped it. This one has a bit of transmission. Rendered with DL (diffuse mode). Will switch to Pathtracing for further renderings because its faster as DL-Diffusemode.

Very cool idea, I've been toying with the idea myself of doing 3d rapid prototyping to do scale figures, but the printing cost is quite high and color printing is really not very impressive.

If you get more info PM me!

very interested in this as well, post some 3d and work finished pictures if possible, there are a few threads on zbrush forums like that, and it is extremely interesting seeing the beginning and end results..
also details about materials and machines used to do the milling, 3dprinting whatever.. and how much could it cost to do one yourself

speaking of, check out this links: ..just check them

Actually the small soldier is done but I wait for the 1/10 figure.
I dont have much informations about the type of machine but its an small art company called "Ownage" (http://www.ownage.com/) which does it.
They are very active in teh scene and do stuff for Mattel and a lot o other big and small companies. The little solider cost around 200USD for printing. Others are 300 and a bit. You get it with a solid breakdown ready for molding.

cool work, looks like a good quality result.. I've been lookin into roland Imodela http://www.rolanddga.com/products/milling/imodela/
for doing something small like that, it's a cnc mill that processes soft plastics about a cigarette box size.. the quality is supposed to be pretty high for a hobby machine..
that link to the site provides just the emails .. do they have a page with some pictures, stuff they are doing?

No they only have a mail there.
But somewhere on ZBrushCentral they have a long thread with lots of pics. I dont have the link anymore but searching there for "desmoda" will do the trick I guess. :)
