Hello guys,

UPDATED: I was importing the kitchen scene at TINY resolution !!! When scaled correctly, DirectLight computes correctly. Here are the new results:

And ... A scene of mine converted to DirectLight :

1) You have to use proper scene scale.
2) Don't use path tracing. Use PMC.

charles, maybe you should try to find out what's going on, not by full scenes which is difficult to tell (it could be anything, including you missing some setting), but rather simpler scenes where you (and us) can clearly say there's a difference, and the specific reson this is failing. Good luck!

well the two examples above paint a pretty clear picture if you ask me

also thinking about buying the max version but from what I've seen there are still many issues
hope you resolve these

and how can you have animation without motion blur? hopefully that feature will be added real soon

I am slowly getting the hang of the standalone version though and it's looking good :D

Ok Refractive Staff, in Max, how do I set the proper scene scale? Inches? Millimeters? Custom? Somebody, please, let me know and I iwll run the tests. Thank you.

Staff, please let me know the proper scene scale conversion for interior archviz. Thx!

I'm seeing other users produce stunning work with Max plugin, anyone care to put in their 2 cents? Thank you :)

the proper scale is one unit = one meter, in max there is TWO places you have to check to set meters as your scene scale. Under "customize"/"unit setup" set metric and meters, and then in that same dialog, the button up top, system units, click it and set 1 unit = 1 meter. Hope it helps.

I would add that even after it, if e.g. the door is modelled 1000 units high - you will get incorrect render results. As it is the physical correct render engine, and it expects the real world sizes...

Man that reminds me I need to update that hallway scene...
Did you convert the materials by hand for max plugin?
