Hi,
i'm testing Octane demo and i'm amazed.
I'd like to know:
- will i be able to move, rotate, scale objects into Octane ?
- Will you develop a Lightwave plugin ?

thanks
paolo

move/scale/rotate is planned for the beta3 in the near future. currently you do all your geometry in your 3d host app.
we're currently exploring a lightwave plugin, however, you can already use the software with lightwave through OBJ export.

This has been real concern for me as well. Good to know it's coming. Will this also work for meshlights?

Will there ever be extra viewports to help with this? It's much easier to move things in one view while seeing the results in another.

offcourse, mesh lights are just normal materials with an emittance channel.

As this is topic about full version and plugins, my question would be about how exact are camera informations after the export to Octane Render? Is there any chance that camera position would be so exact, that alpha and zdepth channels rendered with my host app will match the images rendered in Octane?

Generally, as possibility of rendering with my GPU is tempting, im wondering how much control over the project will i receive with those plugins? Is there any way to see bigger screenshots or video about using of them? For now we are kept in the dark, and there is no exact information what is, and what is not possible with Octane Render. Its rather silly that i need to read every topic on this board to gain complete knowledge about Octane specification.

Only tip is that someone has achieved great results, and those are in gallery. But do i need to work very hard and can achieve these kind of results in demo, or full version brings me powerful set os tools making this work simpler?

This post is not to piss U of. Im just asking.

It's already the case. It depends on your host app plugin capabilities of course but I did a multi pass animation test last week and it worked beautifully.
The beauty pass has been rendered in Octane, and the alpha, Zdepth and Motion vectors have been rendered with Mental Ray.

hope this helps ;)

Answer i was hopin for:). just another quick question. Do cinema 4D and blender plugins export additional material information? How similar texturing can i expect using this plugin? I just dont know how wise it would be to test in demo version ;).

Thanks for quick response ;)

they export basic material definintions, uv maps and texture maps, but you fine tune your materials/lights in real-time in octane.
the plugins are just helpers to render animations and get your camera position into octane.
