very very nice
how do you make the spikes grow ?
is it procedural or manually keyed ?
also, what host app did you use ?
what's your opinion on the export script ?

It's made in Houdini, proceduraly generated, everything is just based on the current frame number so it kinda grows a little bit to "linear" right now, im going to investigate make it feel more organic.
From Houdini I write out a .OBJ sequence, then im using my homemade .BAT file to render the sequence.
The biggest problem I have with it all is that Houdini does not make .MTL files but it has stored information in the .OBJ file for the different "parts" or what not you want to call but Octane doesnt identify these at .OBJ import so I had to make the hole scene into 1 material with 1 texture so it would be cool if octane could understand "parts" as materials.

are you active in any houdini forums ?
if you are, maybe you can find someone who's willing to build an exporter for octane.
we pay the people who write the scripts, and we give them strict / complete documentation and a standardized spec.
