Hi guys, I searched info on the forum but found nothing.
Someone explained to me briefly how the memory usage of Octane please?
I am doing a work, and I find the following statement 3135480 Tris, 3 GPUs, 620.2/739/1536Mb.
From the outset I use the driver as 296.10 today. preferences of Octane as Cuda Driver Version 4.20 and there's like the Cuda Runtime version 4.00.
Now, only with Octane started, as I have 739Mb of vram busy? where they are used and especially as you recover?
The scene is standardized, without textures and HDRI, default resolution of 1600 * 1200.

Thanks in advance for any tips and / or solutions .. (if any .. :? )

Probably something changed in Cuda 4.2 that Octane uses to estimate vram use for your hardware.
The 700mb available probably isn't the real figure - possibly its actually the number divided by 2?
600mb for 3m tris sounds right though.
If it bothers you or it is a real issue go back to an older driver with Cuda 4.0.
Recent Octane was built with Cuda 4.0. Using Cuda 4.2 is probably getting a little ahead of the game even though Cuda is supposed to be backward compatible.
AFAIK the only Cuda 4.2 drivers available ATM are 295.51, 295.73, 296.10, 301.10.

Thanks for the reply Pixelrush.
I'll try to reinstall Cuda 4.0, although it seems strange that this problem has just occurred.
Returning to CUDA 4.0, I can leave the driver 296.10?
Tomorrow I'll have the feedback.

The nvidia driver for windows comes with cuda in it.
You don't need the toolkit for windows if that is what you have done.
Only install the driver.
For windows -
Cuda 4.0 is >=270.81 (>=275.33 for laptops) and <286.
Cuda 4.1 is >=286.19 (>=286.16 for laptops) and <295

Last whql Cuda 4.0 driver is http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvi ... river.html

Make sure that SLI or “multi-GPU” is switched off in the nvidia control panel if you run Octane. (it is switched on by default)
