What type of motherboard would a compaq 5423us have? I have a compaq 5423us and it isn't that good. I need to find out what Motherboard it has to get a better processor. Or i might just get a new motherboard and replace it all. I don't know. Thanks for the help.

I don't know what motherboard your computer has, but octane doesn't care how poor your processor is. What matters is the graphics card.
Basically what you need is a motherboard with a pciex16 slot in it so you can add a graphics card to run octane.

Hi,
I'm not sure you can put 3rd party motherboards in Compaq PCs.
Maybe call your compaq support and ask them.

Here is a forum listing some of the specs for your system:

From the looks of it I'd say it is time to start looking at a newer system. You "might" be able to stick a new mATX motherboard in that case, but you will need a newer CPU and most likely new ram. At that point you are basically looking at a new system all together. There are pleanty of good places to build your own, or have it pre-built. It just depends on how much you want, how much money you want to spend, and how into the process you are willing to go. Let me know if you'd like some help in getting a system spec'ed out and I will try and find you something in your budget.
