Is there a "display background" option?

Hi,
I am wondering if there is a way to display the background instead of the HDRI image or the daylight background in my renders? I would like the background as a solid color.
Thanks guys.

sure
2 option. Either Key out your CG element and make anybackground in your host app you like.
Or jsut a camera faced plane in the shot.
And good, showing HDR images in a final shot is not pleasing at all!

It would be great if we had that as an option in there would make adding backgrounds so much easier. I am guessing we will have it eventually when the pass system is in place.

Im not sure I follow you. ofcourse we both know that there is no pass system now, so we have to deal with it. ok.
It is -dead- easy to do any of the methods i mentioned.
What host app are you using? forexample, me and a friend developed a plugin for 3dsmax that is connected to octane, I can make a plane and put a colour on it and send to octane with 1 click of a button. the plane could have a solid colour for keying ( making an alpha channel on the octane matreial ) or just some bitmpa for drop plate blegh.

Yea I know it is easy to do a workaround. I was asking if there is a way to do it in octane instead.

I have write it to the feature request
A plane is nice, but Octane will render it. You would it see in the reflection.
For Keying it is better to use a pseudo alpha workaround.
Switch to pathtracing and set the maxdepth to 1.
Under preview environment, switch to texture invironment.
Texture to floattexture and power to 2.

that works as well yes, however, keying works fine, as well on spill in reflections if you can handle post ok, whcih means only 1 pass would be made instead of 2.
Depends on the ammount of reflections ofcourse, a mirror would be difficult naturally.
Whatever suites the situation, find a solution.
