Octane update for Kepler

hi roeland, radiance, or whoever listens;

can you give a little insight in how much time it might need to make octane ready for kepler cards?

since synthetic cuda benchmarks look very promising and 4gb cards are about to appear within one or two months, this might be of interest for quite some people.

ps: if you need a gtx 680 for testing, i can ship one to .nz tomorrow :)
(can't use it without an updated octane build anyway :D)

Yeah +1 for this. Given that the ability to work solely with CUDA enabled video cards was a fundamental design decision, I'd feel more confident in the product if we received some indication as to how Octane will develop in step with the progression of that necessary hardware.

My decision to purchase a GTX 680 4GB depends on compatibility with Octane Render.
There are anticipated update? Or can I buy a GTX 580 with 3gb? =)

Hi all,
good grief those things are selling like hotcakes and shops seem to be always out of stock. well, the wait won't be long as we have secured our cards. they are coming and the devs will be able to test the build prepared earlier to work with this new architecture.

no issues on the emachine and the beta team has them working fine on there new hardware.
i have to say the compatibility of this drive is excellent.
i cant wait to get this back into my dell precision 690 because even though it runs an original revodrive perfectly with higher benchmarks the octane offers a much snappier feel in real use.

The latest beta currently available to customers supports the Kepler series cards as well.
At a guess a final v1 and its demo will be out in time for Xmas. 8-)
Better be in soon for Octane at the introductory price ;) ;)

My card - "MSI Gforce 660" and Octane shows that I have a total of 40 cores instead of 960. This is 1.0b 2.57 demo. And I am upset because :(

Hi,
Sorry, the current demo (based on beta 2.57) available to the public doesnt support Kepler cards. It says that on the download page. This is why it wont run and you get that error.
However as I said the recent betas available to licensed customers do.
Also the Kepler Octane builds are for drivers with cuda 4.2 and higher whereas the demo you have is for drivers with cuda 4.0
So there are incompatibility issues. ;)
You will have to wait a little while longer for some bugs to be worked out of the next release and then it will go live and the demo will be updated as well.
I assure you Octane is working well with Kepler cards in forum testing.
Do not needlessly upset yourself. Patience is a virtue, so they say. :)
In the meantime please feel free to ask any questions you have and some kind forum user will be probably be only too happy to answer them for you. :geek:
Please note though that once the beta phase is over soon the price of Octane will very likely rise from 99 euro to 199 euro.
All I can say is that many many people (over 4000) have taken the plunge and become Octane customers and not regretted it. Kepler users included. 8-)
