Hello everyone,

I'm wondering what would be best as a graphics card for my computer. At the moment I use a Geforce 285 GTX with 1GB of memory but yesterday I saw the MSI N430GT-MD4GD3 card that was really cheap (around 70€). Do, following questions arrive:
- Which would be best for Octane? Memory or Clockspeed?
- Can I have both installed on my computer (I have to PCI-e slots) and choose which one I prefer for gaming (the 285) and which one for rendering (possibly the 430?
- Have some tested this card? What were the results?

Many thanks,

Andro

Most important for octane are the number of cuda cores.
The 285 has 240 and the 430 has 96 cuda cores.
The gtx 285 is old and is not full feature provided as it is the oldest card series with cuda performance.
It makes no sense to buy a low end card like the GT 430 and new and old cards are not work perfect together.
Start at least with gtx 550 ti (192 cores) or higher. A few days ago the new gtx 600 series is starting and the price of the gtx 500 drops down fast.
The gtx 580 drops down 20%.

Cheers, mib.
