some questions

hi,

i like to test octane, but unfortunately i am an ati user, so i have some questions ...

1. how great is the performance difference between the 260 GTX (your recommanded chip), the 285 and the 480 ?
is it compareable to performance tests done in games, seen on sites like tomshardwware.com ?

2. does octane support AA ? (http://www.refractivesoftware.com/forum ... f=21&t=878)

3. octane uses only IBL and physicalsky atm ? arealights will be included in the next betawave ?

4. buying the beta means i have to pay twice ? a much reduced rate is a quite vague term.

The beta version of Octane Render will be priced at 50% of final release cost. This will allow user’s to start using Octane Render and enjoy all the benefits of the lightning fast renders and interactivity now, and having a full Octane Render Version 1.0 license at a much reduced rate.

Check the last page because the tests were done on different Octan versions.

about Qn.4, if you buy now you pay 99€ for betas and 1.0, if you buy when 1.0 is out you'll pay 199€ (unless I completely misunderstood Octane policy :))

If you buy a beta license at 99 euro, you get 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc all included.

ok, buying the beta means buying release 1.0 ? that is nice.

and points 2&3 ? when i want AA in my rendering i have to blow up the rendering size per AA-step ?
i have red something about a 4k max resolution restriction in Octane. so @ 2AA the max res would be
2048 sqpx ?

yeah, but, with enough video ram you can go higher than 4096x4096.
also, you can enable antialiasing in the kernel options for aa, it's called the 'filter' option.
it's not %100, we're working on improving it. it's difficult to apply to a GPU.
