ALSO PLEASE CLARIFY IF THE NEW GTX 470 AND GTX 480 FERMI CARDS ARE COMPATIBLE AND IF THEY WORK IN SLI MODE TOO. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF BUYING 2 OF THEM IN SLI MODE TO TRY THE OCTANE RENDER

CAN YOU PLEASE NOT POST IN CAPITALS IT'S VERY RUDE.

please refer to the wikipedia geforce pages and you can compare the card speeds by the GFLOPS rating.

i can not find the Gflops speed of the cards except the tesla ones like this:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_te ... 70_us.html which gives 2.1-2.5 Tflops and seems to be the fastest setup.
Is it compatible with octane?
I want to build a very fast octane system. Can you help me with the selection of the graphics card?

Thanks!

P.S. Apologies for the caps!!!

it seems that the GTX480, GTX470, GTX285 give: 1344, 1088, 708 Gflops, respectively.

and according to Wikipedia the GTX295 gives 1788 Gflops in comparison to the 1344 Gflops of the GTX480 (!?). Is the GTX295 fastest in octane than the GTX480?

No it is not. The GTX 470-480 (fermi) cards are based on a new architecture that are very different from the earlier cards.
The Fermi cards have many more "Cuda cores" wich is what really counts in on the rendertimes.

Cheers.

gtx295 is a dual gtx 285, that is, it has 2 gpus 240 cuda each and 896 Vram each.
