Generate a preview for a saved material, like with Live DB?

Sorry in advance for such a basic queston.... How do I generate a preview for my saved materials, without uploading them to live db? The preview in Live DB is very useful. Surely there is a way to preview my saved materials without opening them? Thanks.

no, not at the moment ;) currently a meaningful name is your only option...
