Quick advice needed on glass render

So, here's the deal:

I have an acrylic package (around 1/8 inch thick). There is one pane on top and one pane on bottom, and it is molded around the object. When using path tracing, the fireflies from the caustics lighting the product inside the box makes the render unusable. Are there any suggestions to dealing with this issue while I wait for HMT? Will HMT even fix these issues?
I'm currently trying to model the case in one piece, basically making a glass shape with the product in it, much like a paper weight.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

This is just a spot render. Even after 16,000 SPP, it still looks like this.

Sorry, I meant MLT. Will the MLT (2.2 next week?) release fix these glass issues?

Hi, yes MLT is very good for this,
but that image is very strange for 16000 samples/px !?

you shoul be able to render it fine, with pathtracing kernel and a good depth like 10 or 12.
also, make sure you're normals are exported and properly assigned.
