Hi all! I can't wait to try this amazing software out, the only problem is that my rig is currently outfitted with an OpenCL card. So, before I attempt to install an additional CUDA card, I'd highly appreciate some feedback and your opinions on my current configuration.

OS - Windows 7 64-bit
HD - 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s
PSU - 600W Modular
RAM - 8GB (2x4GB) 240-pin DDR3 SDRAM 1333
Motherboard - Z68MA-G45 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel Z68
Processor - Intel Core i5-2400 Sandy Bridge 3.1 GHz LGA 1155 95W Quad-core

The existing Radeon HD 6850 GPU would preferably be paired up with a new GTX 260, simply for use of Octane, right now I'm looking at this: [http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125391]

Since I'm pretty much clueless with computers, will this run Octane and render smoothly and quickly? Are the components compatible? Thanks!

yes,
but get a faster gfx card, thats the only real bottleneck regarding octane render speed.
4xx series or 5xx series, if you have a limited budget then cut down on system mem or something else.
The card matters.
Also the more memory ( memory on the gfx card ) the better, 1gb is fine on the card, 2gb nice, 3gb better, etc.

go for the gtx 580...i donno if your psu is enough for one 590.

For a 580 i would recommend at least 600 watts
For a 590 at least 750 watts

Always buy quality / brand power supplies, not cheap ones.
The cheap ones often perform way under the stated wattage...

To be safe I've decided on these two cards for now; GTX 460 or 560. I don't think I'll be able to upgrade enough components to accomodate a 580.

Would either of these cards be compatible with the aforementioned HD 6850 and run Octane reasonably well? Any problems you might see, perhaps heat generation or power demands? Thanks again, this really helps.
