Risers/splitters..

I have small problem..

Bit ago i fried my northbridge and was forced to look for new motherboard. The problem is that i don't want to invest too much into system as i'm looking to upgrade in spring/summer. Thus i'd rather replace motherboard and would not touch anything else.

Parts i do have at the moment:
qx6700 (lga775),
8gigs of ddr2 ram,
2x1gb 460gtxs
& several hdds
plusss periferals..

The problem is to find motherboard that would have 2 x16 or even 2 x8's to populate my gtx cards and would run on ddr2, but I found several cards that do have 16x..

The question would be this:

Could i use splitter/riser to divide x16 into two x8?.. How would that influence performance?..

Could yourecomend any.. In tha way i would buy motherboard and run on one gtx, till i get the splitter to add second card..

Thanks in advance.
Tom

x8, x16,... that is only important for loading time, not rendering performance.

Refracty, i do know that fact and that the loading time doesn't seem to be very different.

But you have put cards physically into motherboard..thats why i'm looking for splitter, riser..to split x16 that i dont really need to be that fast into two x8.

Any ideas? Are these devices will be visible as separate after i will instal to cards after the splitter..? Ne ver had a chance to play with those..how does octane see them?.,
