Private forum? Bad idea.

Hey guy, bad idea in my opinion, very BAD!
Don't move like finalRender or Fryrender forum.
At the start you think this is a better solution for customer, but this block the diffusion and interest about the program.
See VRay forum. All can see the full forum, but only customer can write.
In this way all people, also warez customer, can read and the software and interest spreads more fast.
Just my suggestion, for you

Hi,
Some people might think so, but the new forum layout is much better for a lot of reasons.
This forum is for asking questions regarding the evaluation of our demo version.
If you like the demo version, get a license, after all, for 99 euros you can't complain.

Radiance, it's not the price. 99 its very good

It's the... i don't know how call... philosophy

Ok, it's not Blender. You work and obviously, we pay you.
But
the success of a product is also the community beyond that product.
See how many tutorial the people (most are warez) create for VRay

If you lock that, the product itself "will suffer" and less people buy the software.
Only my personal point of view

Hey Francesco,
I see your point and I would probably go your way if I was the developer of a software... that said I think the public section of the forum has almost anything a demo-user (as I am ATM) needs. Maybe what has disappointed some user is seeing lots of post are gone away, giving the feeling of some kind of censorship and limitation (but Radiance has already stated he will re-load any older thread by user request)
what I really can't get is how warez users can help a software to grow, even when they produce some nice tutorials!?
and BTW the best (and maybe only) way to avoid warez is making good software and selling it at a reasonable price... so Octane wins on all fronts here
just my 2c of course...
cheers
Alessandro

No no, i don't know.
My observation is that lock the forum it's not a good idea, warez or no warez.
But is your decision

you don't seem to understand, nothing is locked.
public users can still post question, artwork, comment on artwork, read news, download and discuss demo versions, and even enter our competitions.
the reason for the change is that now it's much easier for us.
look at it from my point of view, every morning i wake up and i need to read/reply 50-80 posts.
how can i identify if those are from customers or not, when everything is scattered randomly in 7 different forums ?
i need to guarantee them priority and a solution.

People browsing this forum see 12 topics
Instead of the 343 hidden topics
Maybe they think the forum is not active
But we must wait a little for this new "Demo Version Questions & Discussion" forum to fill

It should be the job of other people on the forum, just sayin'
50-80 posts per day is a lot !

maybe it's just that there are only a few demo users because anyone who tries Octane end up buying a license?
- yes I know I shouldn't be the one who says this...
