Hi yalbaiz,
to recap, Octane needs to load the entire scene on each active GPU. So, the GPU with lower VRAM defines the max VRAM usage. You can activate/deactivate any supported GPU in the Divaces preferences on the fly. The Priority option is necessary only for GPUs connected to a monitor.
You need a Standalone or plugin based on SDK 3.03.2 or above to working with Pascal GPUs.
ciao beppe

Thank you very much beppe for the information,
I have one last question though (I hope), I know from what I have read in the forums and Octane documentation that it does not make use of SLI, but is there any negative effect of having SLI enabled while using Octane?
Reason I ask this question is because my system behaves much better when I enable SLI (specially when booting up).
Thanks,
Yarob.

Hi yalbaiz, iirc the SLI give at least slower performance for Octane.
You can disable it in the Nvidia driver settings, no need for disconnect cables as in early days.
Cheers, mib

Hi yalbaiz,
just disable the "Multi GPU" option in the nvidia control panel, as mib has already said.
We suggest this because you can have issues with VRAM quantity, while the speed should not be an issue.

Does anyone have a rig with four GTX 1080 cards working with C4D Octane plugin?
I'm buying a new computer and need to know if I should go for 1080 or 980ti.

980Ti and 1080 have a similar performance, but the 980Ti is half the price. On the other hand the 980Ti needs more electrical power.

Hi y'all
I'm using Win10, Maya 2016, GTX 1080, GA-X99-UD3, 16GB Ram - commercial Standalone 3.03.4, Maya Plugin 2.24.2 -7.24 - Nvidia driver 372.70, win10 64 bit.
Renders nicely on my old Quadro K5000. Won't render on my GTX 1080.
Render options recognizes the GTX 1080 (Gigabyte). Even pulled out the Quadro card. Still won't render. IPR just stays blue. Normal render just hangs.
Am I doing something wrong or do I have to wait for some bit of software to mature?
Cheers
Scott
