So, the Alpha 8 of octane was released yesterday, and not the max plugin.

As usual, we have to wait for an another super cool feature, or a super cool fix.

Go read the posts on the thread, not just the topic title. Alpha 8 is not out yet. It has to be rebuilt and reposted tomorrow because of a bug that was uncovered at the last minute. All alpha 8 plugins are waiting on this same fix.

Hum ! Sorry for my english.
I'm little afraid with what i read. I'm Lightwave User, and we have with Juanjo a very very best developper. (Alpha 3.00.6.0)
I think to jump to 3Ds Max for 3D assets reasons, but seems Octane 3DS Max plugins isnt't at Octane LW plugins level.
After investing in 4 Titan X and ready to buy a second version, i'm not sure of my choice.
Thanks for your commentaries.

If you are confortable with V3 on Lw, and if you dont have time to wait, stay with LW, imo.

i know it's really dificult for developpers to work with max, but :

why posting a new plugin with no words about what is working an not !
it's not cool for users.
We are happy to install this long awaited max plugin and....blaaaaa...searching.....blaaaaa, not workin....what is the correct workflow.....blaaaaa
looks like the last starwars... about a few hours...it's almost useless.

if we could count the time spending by all users to search what is working or not, the total could be month of loosing time :)
we could build a renderfarm of loosing time with an OB 160000000

is to dificult to post a few words about what is working or not ?
is it dificult to post some basics videos of the new workflow ? just a shadowplay session without sound will be ok !
is it to difficult to give us some sample scenes ? 2 cubes, one lights and some basic settings about what's new.

for the V2 you did the same, and you loose a lot of credibility and confiance from us.

i am sure v3 will be awesome, and Octane 2.5 is a great plugin i use every day, but please give us some basics infos.
you will save time too in this forum.

sorry for my bad english.

What is the concrete roadmap for this plugin?
How long do we have to wait for a production ready, stable version 3?
The first Alpha release had no info at all for features/fixes and was obviously just thrown at us to meet promised deadlines...

Currently what i have ben playing around in v3 is:

1: FumeFX VDB not working at all (no error in max but in standalone it displays "VDB:density-temperature-density" and there was mention about a Houdini workaround.

2: No Ptex support

3: Vollumetric Fog (Haze) very cumbersom through a Octane Daylight Only? Only got it working through some Crazy Values like 0.0001 with a Blackbody emission and even here it Hazes out the Sky. Seeems to me its like the old way of doing it and just puts a Box around the scene with Scatter Material aplied to it.

4: No Support of Max`s Standart "Volume Fog"

5: HDRI`s not Rotateable

Seems to me that all V3 Features are either missing or Broken but then again maybe i just could not figure it out.

regards

I hope Fume FX and Phoenix FD will work with max
Also why cannot they make Octane fog like 3ds max has fog without any boxes
