Thanks, Sam. I perfectly agree. I couldn't figure out a way to add a direct sunlight.

Hey,
Here's my lego buggy, finally getting the render it deserves.
42720 tris, GeForce 9600GT... Rendertime 2:38:13 because of the top lights, otherwise it was done in 10 minutes.
EDIT: Everything modeled and textured by me, so no lego-generators used here.

Hi everyone,
We've decided to prolongue the end of the competition with one more week.
This is to allow the linux users to get familiar with Octane Render on linux,
and get there submissions in without having to work in haste.
I've updated the forum post, and the competition will now close on:
Sunday 7 February 2010, at 8pm GMT+1 (Central European Timezone, Brussels, Paris, Amsterdam, etc...)
Good luck and don't forget, you can post as many submissions if you want.

Hi, time to show my first attempts with Windows Octane demo v0.7a and v0.8a (screen shots) :
The first one is really the first image I rendered with Octane that I can show without too much shame !
The scene has been modelled in Blender.
This is my second one :
GeForce 8800 GTS 512 - 2 x 16000 samples per pixel. I rendered two times (two passes of 16000 s/px of 01:07:33 each) and added the second pass as upper layer in Photoshop at 50% transparency to reduce the noise. I also removed the brightest fireflies by hand with one pixel clone pencil.
2.15 Megapixel per second - 4.15FPS - 70016 triangles - 49.9/511 MB of video memory.
Here is the "proof" screen shot of the bracelet being coocked on the v0.8a :
New entry with much shorter render time and environment reflecting on the jewel :
Two passes of 2048 samples per pixel each. 00:10:49. 70028 triangles. 33.4MB/511MB.
The second pass over the second one with 50% transparency, and brighter fireflies removed with
1 pixel clone pencil.
3 passes of 2048 samples per pixel each. 00:09:25. 70028 triangles. 33.4MB/511MB.
The second pass over the second one with 50% transparency the third pass at 25% transparency, and few brighter fireflies removed with 1 pixel clone pencil.
Best regards,
Philippe.
